Teaching Philosophy

As musicians we use movement to sound out history. I have been very fortunate in my studies and professional career to work with many different inspiring musicians and I have learned that music can be approached in numerous different ways. As a teacher, I work to educate my students on: the technical aspects of their instrument; the musicological & theoretical ideas represented in the repertoire; and the movements that they are making, so that they can feel confident in their musical choices. As each student is different, I strive to find the ways that each of them will best integrate the materials that we are working on. Throughout my focus is on the music and learning an instrument as a process.
